The Legislative Reform (Industrial and Provident Societies and Credit Unions Order 2011) has been re-laid before Parliament, and was approved by the Commons Committee on 19/10/2011.
It proposes a number of changes to the Credit Unions Act 1979, including allowing credit unions to provide services to community groups, attract investment from local businesses and extend services to new groups of people who could benefit from access to safe, responsible and affordable credit. Credit unions will also be able to pay interest on savings, instead of a dividend.
In September and October Access Points were launched at the following locations
In these venues we are working within local partnerships to facilitate access to credit union services across the county. Our local volunteers give freely of their time and skills to help make a difference. Our thanks go to all who have made this possible. LincUp really is a community business.
