What skills do we need?
The LCU needs a wide range of skills to perform efficiently and professionally. Running a Credit Union takes a wide range of diverse skills from being a friendly face and 'ambassador' to becoming a member of the Board of Directors.
- Contact Point - Meeting people and providing information on our services
- Clerical / Administration - Word Processing, Newletter design etc.
- Employer Champions - promoting credit union services within the workplace
- Debt Advisors - to help other members that face financial difficulties
- Directors - strengthen the board vision
- Loans Officers - interviewing and assisting members where appropriate, processing loans, making decisions within specified criteria
- Administrators - accounts and office work
- Credit Control - ensuring people maintain repayments
- Media Relations - ensuring our news is published throughout our County partners and press
- Treasury - strengthening our higher level accounting procedures and trading position
- Auditing - testing for errors etc.
- Compliance - ensuring policy and law is always followed
- Health & Safety - Best HSE practice
- Marketing - Professional Marketing
- Cashiering - staffing convenient cash deposit points
The above list is not exhaustive so if you have time and want to explore other areas then contact us to discuss how you can help us grow. Please do not be put off if you do not think you fit in to the above categories - our training will ensure that we can find a role that will suit you and that you will find enjoyable. Even a couple of hours a month could benefit someone in your local community!!!
Directors
The board is responsible in law for the proper running of the credit union. Directors are trained volunteer members who also work in their branches.
The board builds the vision of the Credit Union and you can turn vision into reality.
NOTE: Directors are vetted by the Financial Services Authority.
You may not be a director if you have been convicted of fraud, theft or are currently a bankrupt.
Partner organisations
Lincolnshire Credit Union is keen to work with professional partners who can offer any of the following elements of member services:
- Administration - helping us record our business transactions - all you need is some time and an Internet connection
- Contact Point - help us maintain contact with the County - all you need is a friendly smile and some time to train in our services
- Collection Point - help us collect and bank our cash deposits. - if you already have a cash side to your business this may be a breeze for you.
LCU partnership working creates a symbiotic relationship - both parties gain. LCU will train you and your staff in all of the skills required and you will gain footfall and loyalty from our mutual members and you will be building a fairer Lincolnshire.
